We are very proud of our school and the unique, safe haven it represents for our students.
The values that are key to our approach are:
We see the value in every student at The Bridge, regardless of different thinking styles or learning needs.
Every child should feel a sense of
belonging at The Bridge, whether
they be students with specific
barriers to learning, or students with particular strengths or interests.
Our neurodiverse approach to
understanding the abilities of our
learners allows us to introduce
cutting edge and future thinking
learning methods. Through our
approach of constantly observing,
learning and adapting, we are
ever-evolving as we continue to
push the boundaries of what is
possible within the assisted learning environment.
The Bridge is the ideal educational environment for students with intellectual potential who are not able to realise this potential in a regular mainstream school setting. Here, we BRIDGE the gap between ability and performance by providing the necessary expertise, support and tailored learning programmes and spaces, enabling students to flourish and grow. We ultimately ensure that the foundation is in place for our students to move from Grade R right through to Grade 12 with us. We cater to their unique needs during each phase of their developmental process.
All the students at The Bridge are children with average to above average intellectual and scholastic potential , but who require additional educational expertise and/or smaller class sizes appropriate for assisted learning.
We want students at The Bridge to thrive, not just cope. So we constantly evaluate academic progress in a way that is appropriate for the individual, taking into account challenges being faced. Our aim is to help students progress and build on their successes, to ensure they work towards and ultimately realise their highest potential.
At The Bridge we are very aware of the importance of healthy, emotional development. Sometimes, as adults and parents, we are not always aware of the emotional struggles a child has to face. Even small changes in a child’s life may lead to huge stress and anxiety. Our anxiety as parents and caregivers can also have a huge impact on a child. At The Bridge we endeavour to be aware of an individual child’s anxieties and stresses to assist students in a caring and proactive manner. Emotional stability and a safe learning environment are key to each child reaching their personal potential.
Additional academic support classes are offered throughout the year.
Literacy Support for children flagged as "high risk" for reading barriers such as dyslexia will be given the support they need from Ravo qualified staff members.
Grades 1 to 2: 13:00 – 13:30
Grade 3: 13:45 – 14:15
Grade 4: 13:30 – 14:15
Grades 5 to 10: 14:00 – 14:45
These classes will take place on days which would not clash with other extra-murals as far as possible. We believe in a balance for all children – academic progress and extra-mural activities.
